# DID YOU PREORDER THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM?
If you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda, you’re probably eagerly anticipating the release of Tears of the Kingdom. And if you’re one of the savvy fans who preordered the game on Nintendo’s eShop using the Game Voucher, you saved some cash. But no matter how much you paid, if you opted for the digital version, it’s time to start downloading so you can start playing when the game goes live in the US at 12:00AM ET on May 12th.
# DON’T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE
While some players in other time zones have already started playing, those of us in the US have to wait until midnight ET / 9:00PM PT. And while it’s tempting to procrastinate, you don’t want to be stuck waiting for an hour or more for the game to download while your fellow adventurers are already out there exploring. Plus, if you haven’t used your Switch recently, you may have a software update waiting to be installed. Give yourself plenty of time to get everything set up so you’re ready to go.
# CHECK YOUR STORAGE SPACE
One thing to be aware of is that Tears of the Kingdom is a 16GB download, which means it will take up more than half of the 32GB of built-in storage on non-OLED Switch consoles. Make sure you have enough space or a microSD card. Otherwise, you may have to delete other games or files to make room.
# PRELOADING IS THE ONLY WAY TO WIN
Finally, if you want to play and win the “stare at your homescreen waiting for the game to unlock at midnight” prologue mini-game, you need to preload the game. So get downloading, and get ready to explore the magical world of Zelda once again.
