# THE YEAR OF EXISTENTIAL CRISIS IN FILM?
It appears that “existential crisis” might be the theme of the year in film. Following the recent releases of “Beau Is Afraid” and “Problemista,” a new clip of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie has emerged, featuring the main character experiencing an existential crisis.
In the clip, Barbie (played by Margot Robbie) plans a trip to the real world after feeling unsettled by putting her heels on the ground. Before leaving, she throws a lavish party where, at one point, she asks her guests, “Do you guys ever think about dying?” The relatable moment marks a departure for the traditionally vapid and superficial character.
# A STAR-STUDDED CAST
The “Barbie” movie boasts a gigantic cast including:
– Margot Robbie as Barbie
– Ryan Gosling as Ken
– Emma Stone as Skipper
– Stephan James as Stacie
– Maya Rudolph as Mrs. Jones
– Greta Gerwig as an unknown character
This is the third look at the movie, and it seems to give the best sense of what it will actually be like and how weird it will be. It is set to hit theaters on July 21st, the same day as Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” promising one hell of a double feature.
