ELON MUSK AGREES TO TESTIFY IN SEC INVESTIGATION
Musk has agreed to participate in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s investigation into his acquisition of Twitter. According to a legal document, Musk has waived his right to appeal a court order mandating his testimony.
REQUIREMENT TO APPEAR AT SEC OFFICES
Musk will have to undergo a potentially five-hour interview at one of the SEC’s offices. Although a date has been set between Musk and the SEC, it has not been disclosed for confidentiality reasons.
SEC’S INVESTIGATION INTO MUSK’S FAILURE TO DISCLOSE TWITTER STAKE
The SEC initiated an investigation in 2022 regarding Musk’s failure to disclose his stake in Twitter. Last October, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Musk after he refused to testify in the probe. This led to allegations of Musk attempting to delay the investigation.
MUSK’S PREVIOUS CONFLICTS WITH THE SEC
Musk has clashed with the SEC on multiple occasions, accusing the agency of harassment and stifling his freedom of speech.
