## MARK ZUCKERBERG ANNOUNCES NEW FEATURES FOR THREADS
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently shared that Threads, the Twitter competitor, will be receiving new features this week. These additions include the ability to share Threads posts to Instagram DMs, the option to add custom alt text to photos and videos in posts, and a new “mention button” to easily mention someone’s account within a thread[^1^].
## HOW TO USE THE NEW FEATURES
To share a post via Instagram DMs, simply tap on the paper airplane-like icon on the post. If you want to add alt text, start a post, attach photos or videos using the paperclip icon, and then tap on the “Alt” button that appears on the image[^2^]. Unfortunately, some users may not have access to the mention button yet. However, you can still mention other users while drafting a post by entering the @ symbol and typing the desired username or selecting from the suggested options[^2^]. If the new features are not visible, ensure that you have the latest version of the Threads app installed, as the updates may require it[^2^].

## ANTICIPATING FUTURE UPDATES
While these updates are valuable, many users are eagerly awaiting more significant enhancements like a web client and improved search. Mark Zuckerberg recently confirmed that these features will be introduced in the next few weeks[^4^]. Hopefully, the wait for these updates will not be too long. In the meantime, Threads does offer a following feed, although some users, including myself, find it inconvenient that it redirects users away from it[^4^].
Stay tuned for further developments!
