DISNEY PAYS MULTIMILLION-DOLLAR SETTLEMENT IN PRODUCER DISPUTE
Disney has reportedly reached a settlement in a legal dispute with Victoria Alonso, one of its former producers. The amount of the settlement has not been disclosed, but is said to be in the millions. Neither party has released any details of the settlement, but it comes after a public disagreement between Alonso and Disney over the reasons for her dismissal.
ALONSO’S DISMISSAL WAS OVER AN ARGENTINA FILM PROMOTION, SAYS REPORT
According to industry reports, Alonso was dismissed by Disney over her promotion of the Amazon Studios film, “Argentina, 1985,” which she produced. Alonso’s legal representatives contested Disney’s claim, saying that their client was dismissed after refusing to carry out a task she deemed inappropriate. Her lawyers further noted that the decision to fire her would have “serious consequences” for the company.
MARVEL DEFENDS DISNEY ADAMANCY
Marvel Studios defended Disney’s decision to dismiss Alonso, suggesting that she had left out certain details about her dismissal. They did, however, wish her well in her future endeavors. It seems that Disney has now had to pay a high price for responding to the dispute in the way it did.
Disney’s dispute with Victoria Alonso highlights the potential dangers of miscommunication when it comes to public relations. Media coverage of the dispute has brought unwanted attention to the company, and the multimillion-dollar settlement is likely to further damage the company’s reputation.
