APPLE SUSPENDS WORK ON A NEW HIGH-END VISION HEADSET
APPLE HAS DECIDED TO HALT ITS WORK ON A NEW HIGH-END VISION HEADSET DUE TO DECLINING SALES OF THE VISION PRO. ACCORDING TO A RECENT REPORT FROM "THE INFORMATION", APPLE IS FOCUSING ON RELEASING A CHEAPER MODEL BY THE END OF 2025.
THE VISION PRO: AN OVERVIEW
THE FIRST VISION PRO WAS RELEASED EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND ALTHOUGH IT HAS BEEN HAILED AS A VERY GOOD VR HEADSET, IT SHARES SIMILAR FLAWS WITH MANY OTHER VR HEADSETS. PRICED AT €3,499, THE VISION PRO IS QUITE EXPENSIVE AND NOTABLY HEAVY.
THE NEW, CHEAPER VISION HEADSET
APPLE IS WORKING ON A CHEAPER VISION HEADSET, CODENAMED N109, THAT WILL RETAIN THE HIGH-RES DISPLAYS OF THE VISION PRO BUT WILL BE "AT LEAST ONE-THIRD LIGHTER." THE COMPANY IS AIMING TO PRICE THIS HEADSET IN LINE WITH A HIGH-END IPHONE, ESTIMATED BETWEEN €1,500 AND €2,500. HOWEVER, APPLE HAS FACED CHALLENGES IN REDUCING COSTS WITHOUT SACRIFICING TOO MANY FEATURES.
APPLE’S FUTURE PLANS
APPLE IS STILL COMMITTED TO THE VISION PRO, PLANNING TO LAUNCH IT INTERNATIONALLY AT THE END OF JUNE AND INTRODUCE NEW FEATURES WITH VISIONOS 2 THIS FALL. THE COMPANY’S LONG-TERM STRATEGY REMAINS UNCERTAIN, AS IT MAY DECIDE TO FOCUS ON MORE AFFORDABLE PRODUCTS RATHER THAN RELEASING ANOTHER HIGH-END VISION DEVICE.
