ASUS TO SUPPORT MICROSOFT’S DYNAMIC LIGHTING FEATURE

ASUS is gearing up to back Microsoft’s latest Dynamic Lighting feature, which enables Windows 11 users to manage a motherboard’s RGB lighting without the need for a separate application. The tech giant has already commenced testing new beta BIOS updates for its AMD 600 and Intel 700 series motherboards, incorporating the Dynamic Lighting support.

MICROSOFT’S INNOVATIVE ADDITION TO WINDOWS 11

In a bid to enhance user experience, Microsoft introduced Dynamic Lighting to Windows 11 in September, paving the way for native RGB lighting controls within the operating system for the first time. This functionality allows users to manipulate RGB lights using the open HID LampArray standard, with leading manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS, HP, HyperX, Logitech, Razer, and Twinkly collaborating with Microsoft to facilitate this feature.

BIOS UPDATES FOR ASUS MOTHERBOARDS

To benefit from Dynamic Lighting on ASUS’ latest motherboards, a BIOS update will be required, set to roll out in the forthcoming weeks. A beta version is currently accessible on ASUS’ forums for AMD and Intel boards. However, exercising caution is advised when flashing a beta BIOS, and it’s recommended to be prepared to revert to an older BIOS version in case of encountering bugs.

ENHANCED CONFIGURATION OPTIONS WITH WINDOWS 11

Upon ASUS board integration with Dynamic Lighting, users can customize brightness, colors, and effects via the Settings section in Windows 11. While the current lighting controls may appear rudimentary, they offer a way to bypass ASUS’ Armory Crate tool and leverage native RGB controls in Windows. This eliminates the necessity to utilize third-party RGB controller software like OpenRGB unless additional functionality is desired.
