# ONEPLUS ANNOUNCES FIRST TABLET: THE ONEPLUS PAD
OnePlus has recently shared details regarding its upcoming tablet- the Android-powered OnePlus Pad. The tablet is now available for pre-order starting April 28th at a price of $479 (€499 / £449) directly from OnePlus. Customers who pre-order before May 8th will get a 50% discount on OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earbuds if purchased with the tablet. Accessories for the tablet include a magnetic keyboard case for $149, a stylus for $99, and a folio case for $39.
# A TABLET FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS
The OnePlus Pad features a 144 Hz LCD display with a unique 7:5 aspect ratio that can be used in landscape or portrait orientations. The display also supports Dolby Vision HDR, and the tablet’s quad speaker array supports Dolby Atmos audio. The tablet has an aluminum chassis with a brushed metal finish and comes in a single green color. Other specs include a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
# ENTERING A SATURATED MARKET
The tablet market is currently dominated by Apple, with Samsung also holding a significant share. OnePlus, which originally made its name by selling high-end smartphones at lower prices than Apple or Samsung, has entered the market with its OnePlus Pad. It remains to be seen whether the company can replicate the success of its smartphones in the tablet market.
# COMPETITIVELY PRICED
The pricing of the OnePlus Pad puts it in the middle of the pack- more expensive than Apple’s entry-level iPads but with hardware features that compete with the pricier iPad Pro. Similarly, it costs more than Samsung’s budget tablets but significantly less than the Tab S8 models that share similar features. The pricing strategy employed by OnePlus is consistent with the company’s previous products.
# AVAILABILITY AND SHIPPING DATE
The OnePlus Pad is expected to begin shipping on May 8th from OnePlus, with Amazon availability set for later in May.
