# Wacom Introduces New Range of Affordable Drawing Tablets: The Wacom One

## What’s New in the Wacom One Lineup

Wacom, a well-known name in the world of digital art, is expanding its range of affordable drawing tablets with the introduction of four new additions to the Wacom One product family. These tablets have been designed to cater to students, educators, and individuals new to creative drawing hardware. The aim of the new Wacom One range is to offer choice and customization to meet different needs.

## Two Types of Tablets to Choose From

The four tablets in the Wacom One lineup come in two varieties. There are the Wacom One 12 ($399.99) and Wacom One 13 touch ($599.99) “pen display” tablets, which come with built-in screens. Alternatively, there are the Wacom One S ($99.99) and Wacom One M ($149.99) traditional “pen tablets” that don’t have a display.

## Enhanced Visual Experience and Functionality

The Wacom One 12 and Wacom One 13 touch pen display tablets feature 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch glass screens, respectively, that are specially bonded to reduce parallax. These tablets boast a 1920 x 1080p resolution with 99 percent sRGB coverage. The Wacom One 13 touch also supports Wacom’s 10-finger multitouch gestures, allowing users to navigate using familiar hand movements like pinching and swiping. To enhance the drawing experience, a button on the Wacom One 13 touch can disable touch sensitivity if needed.

On the other hand, the Wacom One S and M are the company’s first entry-level pen tablets with 4K pressure sensitivity and tilt support. The stylus that comes with all four versions of the Wacom One is customizable, available in various colors, and equipped with two side buttons for assigning keyboard shortcuts. Additionally, third-party pens from Staedtler, Lamy, Kaweco, and Dr. Grip are compatible with these tablets.

## Versatile Compatibility

All four of the new Wacom One drawing tablets are compatible with Windows, macOS, Android, and ChromeOS. They can be used with a USB-C cable instead of the HDMI/USB-C/Power splitter cable typically used with display tablets. If additional power is needed, a secondary USB-C cable can be connected to the drawing tablet. Wacom One display tablets still offer HDMI support for users who cannot rely solely on USB-C. The Wacom One S and M models also offer Bluetooth support.

## Sustainability at the Core

Wacom takes pride in its commitment to sustainability with the new Wacom One lineup. Each tablet is composed of approximately 30-65 percent postconsumer recycled plastics and features reduced or replaced petroleum-based plastics with bioplastics. To minimize e-waste, Wacom also offers cheaper tablet-only “eStore” versions for customers who already own compatible cables and styluses.

## Unlock Your Creativity with Wacom

Faik Karaoglu, the executive vice president of Wacom’s branded business unit, believes that the Wacom One product line serves as a gateway to the world of digital art, creativity, and productivity. With over 40 years of experience in building high-end creative pen displays, Wacom aims to make it easier than ever for artists and new users to embark on their creative journeys.

## Competition in the Affordable Tablet Market

While Wacom’s premium offerings like the Cintiq remain the choice for many creative professionals, competitors such as Huion and XP-Pen have emerged in recent years, targeting consumers on a budget. The features and pricing of the Wacom One lineup position it well to compete at various price levels.

## A Naming Oversight?

One minor complaint is Wacom’s decision to reuse the “One” name yet again. The company already has a Wacom One display tablet and a “One by Wacom” pen tablet. Given their roots in creativity, one would expect Wacom to show more originality in naming their products.
