# Apple TV Plus continues to showcase its success in the sci-fi genre, but this summer, the platform is venturing into the murder mystery realm with “Sunny,” a new series produced by A24 and led by showrunner Katie Robbins, director Lucy Tcherniak, and executive producer Rashida Jones.

# “Sunny,” based on Colin O’Sullivan’s novel “The Dark Manual,” follows the story of Suzie Sakamoto (portrayed by Jones), an American woman residing in Kyoto. Her life takes a drastic turn when her husband Masa (played by Hidetoshi Nishijima) and their son disappear in a tragic plane crash.

# Despite Suzie’s desire to reunite with her family, she is introduced to Sunny (played by Joanna Sotomura), an experimental robot provided to her by Masa’s employer. Initially hesitant towards the robot, Suzie eventually forms a bond with Sunny and realizes that the robot may hold the key to uncovering the truth behind her husband and son’s disappearance.

# Although a trailer for “Sunny” has yet to be released, Apple has revealed that the first two episodes of the series will premiere on July 10th.
