Critique du lapin R1 : un gadget AI inachevé et non utile

# YOU’RE HOLDING A TACO!

My Rabbit R1 recently surprised me by confidently identifying a Cool Ranch Dorito as a taco, despite my efforts to correct it. The AI-powered gadget, which I had high hopes for, has consistently struggled with basic tasks, misidentifying objects and failing to perform simple functions. Despite promises of frequent updates from the company, the R1 remains underwhelming and unreliable, unable to live up to its initial hype.

# THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE LAM

While the R1 boasts a fun design and good microphone, its functionality falls short. The device’s “Large Action Model” (LAM) is meant to streamline tasks like ordering food or using apps, but in reality, it falls flat. Limited app connections and clunky navigation hinder the R1’s potential, leaving users frustrated and underwhelmed. The device’s camera struggles to accurately identify objects, further adding to its list of shortcomings.

# HOT MIC: AI IN A BOX

Without the promised LAM capabilities, the R1 functions as a standard voice assistant, albeit with some useful features. Its partnership with Perplexity allows for real-time information delivery, but inaccuracies and glitches persist. The R1’s performance in basic tasks is hit-or-miss, with occasional delays or failures. While the device’s voice recorder functionality is a standout feature, overall performance leaves much to be desired.

# A VISION IN ORANGE

Despite its shortcomings, the R1’s design stands out with a sleek orange exterior and intuitive features like a press-to-talk button and scroll wheel. However, its functionality as a dedicated AI assistant falls short, lacking the sophistication and reliability expected from a cutting-edge device. While Rabbit’s approach may have potential for improvement in the future, current execution leaves much to be desired.

# THE FUTURE OF AI HARDWARE?

As the industry continues to evolve, dedicated AI hardware like the R1 may struggle to compete with smartphones and other innovative devices. While the R1 offers a unique experience, it ultimately fails to deliver on its promises, leaving users with a sense of disappointment and dissatisfaction. As technological advancements continue to reshape the landscape of AI devices, the future of gadgets like the R1 remains uncertain.
