PIXAR ANNOUNCES LAYOFFS AMID FOCUS ON THEATRICAL RELEASES
According to reports from Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter, Pixar is laying off 175 employees, representing 14 percent of its workforce. The studio is shifting its focus back to projects meant for theatrical releases rather than streaming.
THE STUDIO’S EFFORTS TO RETURN TO FEATURE FILMS
In a memo sent to staff by Pixar president Jim Morris, it was emphasized that the layoffs were necessary to refocus on feature films. Despite the challenges faced by the industry in recent years, the decision was described as one of the hardest for executive leadership.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
Morris thanked all employees for their contributions and expressed gratitude for their hard work at the studio. For those leaving, he expressed hope that their paths would cross again, both professionally and personally.
UPCOMING RELEASE OF "INSIDE OUT 2"
Pixar’s latest film, "Inside Out 2," is set to premiere on June 14th.
