La Xiaomi 13 Ultra sort le grand jeu en matière de photographie.

XIAOMI LAUNCHES 13 ULTRA: A CAMERA POWERHOUSE

Xiaomi has just launched the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, a smartphone with four 50-megapixel cameras in its rear camera bump, set for release in China this month and internationally soon after. The Ultra variant utilizes a variable aperture, having an f/1.9 or f/4.0 option as well as a massive one-inch sensor for its main camera. Its three other secondary cameras also boast 50-megapixel resolutions.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s secondary cameras include a 3.2x telephoto lens, 5x telephoto lens, and an ultrawide lens for macrophotography at a distance of 5cm. For a smoother experience, the phone comes with accessories such as a grip with a traditional shutter release button and a zoom lever, and a mount to put filters over the camera’s lenses.

Apart from its cameras, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra features a 6.73-inch OLED display, a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits of peak brightness. Its power is provided by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, similar to the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. It has between 12 to 16GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of onboard storage that can be fast-charged wirelessly at 50W or with a wire at 90W. It’s got an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and vegan leather coating available in black, white, and green colors.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s international release date is yet to be announced. However, its availability in China comes in three versions with corresponding prices, starting from ¥5,999 (around $873) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, ¥6,499 (around $945) for 16GB / 512GB, and ¥7,299 (around $1,062) for 16GB / 1TB.

While Samsung’s Galaxy S9 had already released the dual aperture feature for smartphone cameras, Xiaomi’s take on the concept with a larger sensor is worth a look.
