POKÉMON TRADING CARD GAME LIVE: LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED
The Pokémon Company has finally set a launch date for its highly anticipated mobile app, Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. After multiple delays and almost two years of waiting, the game will officially launch on June 8th, along with the release of the new Scarlet & Violet—Paldea Evolved card set.
DIGITAL CARD PLAY BEFORE PHYSICAL STORE RELEASE
Players will have the opportunity to buy and play with digital cards from the set on the app before the physical release date on June 9th. Additionally, those who log on between May 2nd and June 6th will receive customization bonuses, such as digital card sleeves and deck boxes.
CONCERNS FROM LONGTIME FANS
Despite the excitement surrounding the launch, there have been concerns from longtime fans of the game. Moving from the previous app, Pokémon TCG Go, to Pokémon Trading Card Game Live has been a negative experience for some players. While the apps share similarities in battling, some have criticized the removal of in-game trading functionality and virtual booster packs containing fewer cards than in the previous version.
DELISTING OF PREVIOUS APP
Regardless of players’ concerns, starting on June 5th, The Pokémon Company plans to delist the previous app from app stores, making Pokémon Trading Card Game Live the only way to play the game online. At this time, it is unknown if any of the previous concerns have been addressed.
